Gloucester Old Spot piggy what can I say. You’re so cute but also your bacon is so delicious.. it really doesn’t taste like your regular cure. It’s salted but not salty and it has a very porky aroma. Really different and really delicious.. This goes between a couple of slices of proper crusty bread and butter. No ketchup. I feel like I just tasted bacon for the first time all over again. Thank you Gloucester Old Spot piggy.
Thoroughly delicious and chubby porky sausages. Really meaty and perfectly seasoned. I think I read these are the mother in law’s creation? Well Mr Kimber clearly married well. Lucky sausage.
Delivery was right on time and the food was safely and well packed. The meat (mutton shoulder, sausages and bacon) was all completely delicious and I mean DELICIOUS.
I’ve never had mutton before but I like the idea that the animal’s had a few years of munching and sunshine. Totally not disappointed - I sprinkled a little salt over and slow baked the shoulder. I put it in the oven at 220 uncovered for 30 mins and then reduced the temp to 150 for around 4 hours covered with foil. Then took it out and rested it for 30 mins still in the foil and covered with a load of tea towels to keep the warmth in. The meat was amazingly tender and just fell off the bone. It’s like butter and no knives needed. Basically like the best lamb you’ve ever tasted. And the gravy made from the tray.. oh my word.. Kimbers farm mutton shoulder slow baked is completely spectacular, it’s a delicious and special treat. Get some (but leave some for me)!

So many options here...from crunchy toppings on Caesar salad to nice munchies with a crisp cider, or a base for a beautifully simple pasta. Oh yum.
Finally, a very good, old fashioned pudding, with fat.
