Description

The production of smoking these cold smoked trout begins with the selection of a large 4-5lb trout, which would be around 2 years old. The fish are fasted for 24 hours to ensure the best quality flesh, and once dispatched, gutted and filleted they are salted before being smoked.

Mere Trout dry salt the trout before smoking them rather than using a salt brine. The term ‘cold smoked’ is as such because the fish are smoked without the use of any heat; thirteen hours at twenty-five degrees centigrade. They are smoked over locally sourced oak, ash & beech chippings.

Once smoked, the bones are removed from the fish and it is skilfully sliced. The slices are laid out and vacuum-packed straight away.

Suggested Serving: At least two ounces per portion of cold smoked trout, so this 4 oz pack serves two.

**Exclusions apply. Unpasteurised milk is excluded from free delivery due to weight restrictions.

Please Note: Due to our shop opening hours, we can only deliver on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Non-Mainland UK and International Delivery

Delivery rates for orders from non-mainland UK addresses, including the Scottish Highlands and Islands, and Isle of Wight will be calculated at the checkout.

How quickly will my order arrive?

Our aim is to dispatch all orders placed before 1pm on the same day (Tuesday to Friday), this is dependent on whether the items ordered are in stock. Any orders placed after that time will be dispatched on the next available working day.

We will send you a notification email when your order has been dispatched. The time your order takes to arrive will depend on the delivery option you choose.

While we always try our best to dispatch every order following the above guidelines, during extremely busy periods dispatch times may increase by up to one day.

What days will my order be delivered on?

Our couriers deliver between 07.00 and 18.00 Wednesday to Saturday.

Collect in person

You are able to collect your order from our premises by choosing the relevant option at the checkout. At this point delivery charges will be removed. Please choose your date of collection at the checkout.

All orders are thoroughly checked before leaving our premises. On receipt of your order we request that you check the items as soon as possible.
